Music Minor

The music minor is divided into a core curriculum and several tracks. Music minors may not audit courses in private instruction. Total credits required: 24-28 (28-32 if MUS 101 and 131 are required)

Courses students may test out of:

MUS 101 - Fundamentals of Music Theory (4 Cr.)
MUS 131 - Basic Piano (2 Cr.)
If both are required, student are encouraged to take 101 and 131 simultaneously.

Scholar Track

2 credits of applied music from MUS 160-187
2 credits of ensemble participation from MUS 140-149
3 electives chosen from the following: MUS 304 - Music Theory II: Counterpoint and 20th Century Practice (4 Cr.) ; MUS 349 - Romanticism and Beyond (4 Cr.) ; MUS 458 - The Old Art, the New Art, and the Perfect Art: Music from 800-1600 (2 Cr.) ; MUS 109 - The History of Jazz (2 Cr.) ; MUS 353 - Jazz Theory (2 Cr.) ; MUS 203 - Special Topics in Music (2 or 4 Cr.)
