Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Major

100 Level (4 Credits)

• WGS 100 - Introduction to Gender, Race, and Sexuality in American Society (4 Cr.)

• AND

• WGS 150 - Women’s Experiences in Global Perspectives (4 Cr.)

200 or 300 Level in WGS (8 Credits)

Two 200- or 300-level Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies courses are required. (Students who elect to take both WGS 100  and WGS 150 , may take one course at the 200- or 300-level in WGS, with departmental approval and in consultation with your advisor)

400 Level (8 Credits)

• WGS 400 - Seminar in Selected Topics in Women’s Studies (4 Cr.)

• OR

• WGS 420 - Transnational Feminist Theory and Women’s Activism (4 Cr.)

• One other 400-level course in WGS or an elective area are required

Upper Level Electives (8 Credits)

Two 300- or 400-level elective courses in WGS or a related discipline are required.

Internship (2 or 4 Credits, 180 hours)

One 400-level internship, in consultation with the department. WGS 490 (4 Cr.)

Note:

A variety of opportunities for internships specifically related to women’s studies are available for students.

Students may substitute the PCE 497  capstone experience for a 400-level course in WGS with an approved topic or project.
