THE 212 - Maryland Shakespeare Festival (3 Cr.)


This course is a collaboration between the Maryland Shakespeare Festival and Goucher College. Students will spend an intensive three week training residency on campus with daily classes in Shakespeare scene work, voice and movement, and text analysis. Workshops and lectures on Shakespeare’s life and times, stage combat, historic dance and others will be included. The course focuses on original practices, techniques, and methods employed by theatre companies in Shakespeare’s day, especially emphasizing direct interaction with the audience. Instructors will include Goucher faculty and professional actor/teachers from the Maryland Shakespeare Festival. An additional $400.00 lab fee is due at the first class meeting. After the three-week intensive, students have the option of going on tour across the state with the Maryland Shakespeare Festival Good Will Tour. Variable credits
