PHL 254 - Biomedical Ethics (3 Cr.) (GEN. ED. #10) A study of the ethical significance of embodiment, with focus on questions of life and death, euthanasia, the commodification of bodies and organs, genetic manipulation, disability, and trans-gender. Students will explore these questions with reference to traditional applied ethics as well as postmodern critiques.
Prerequisite: either sophomore standing, one course in philosophy, or permission of the instructor. Spring semester, alternate years. Department.
