Comprised of the disciplines of Economics, Environmental Studies, International Relations, Political Science, and Sociology & Anthropology, the Center for People, Politics, and Markets fosters a commitment to providing deeper insight into the profound environmental, political, social, economic, and cultural challenges of our time. We strive to offer our students a home from which to inquire and act deeply on behalf of the communities that matter to them. 

At the core of our Center is a methodological and theoretical toolkit grounded in the social sciences. We value inquiry that uses quantitative and qualitative analyses of social research questions. Our analytic perspectives are rigorous, richly differentiated, and complementary. We challenge conventional thinking with a global and ethnographic awareness of the range of human experience and cutting-edge critical theory. We are committed to a socially just, sustainable future, and see ourselves playing a key role in equipping our students to make a difference.
