Return to: Majors, Minors, Concentrations, and Certifications
The Equine Studies Minor provides students an opportunity to explore topics relating to the horse-the equine industry, horses, their care, management, and anatomy. Students gain both theoretical and practical experience of horses including understanding their handling, physiology, behavior, health issues and maintenance. In addition, students will learn the basics of small business management applicable to many equine related careers. While the course is equine focused, it is designed for maximum flexibility to attract students interested in a variety of careers including: equine facility manager/owner, equine journalist, trainer, bloodstock agent, bloodstock importer, or veterinary services. Students planning to apply to veterinary schools should also consult the pre-health advisor, Jennifer Bess/Dara Friedman-Wheeler.
Total credits required to complete the minor: 20.
