Creative Writing Minor

At the 200 level in creative writing, choose at least one of the following:

• WRT 202 - Short Story Writing (4 Cr.)
• WRT 205 - Introduction to Poetry Writing (4 Cr.)
• WRT 217 - Literature and Film: Screenplay Adaptation (4 Cr.)
• WRT 226 - Creative Nonfiction I (4 Cr.)

At the 300 level in creative writing, choose at least one of the following:

• WRT 305 - Writing Workshop: Poetry (4 Cr.)
• WRT 306 - Writing Workshop: Fiction (4 Cr.)
• WRT 307 - Creative Nonfiction II (4 Cr.)

At the 400 level in creative writing, choose at least one of the following.

• WRT 414 - Advanced Seminar: Creative Non-Fiction (4 Cr.)
• WRT 415 - Advanced Writing Workshop: Poetry (4 Cr.)
• WRT 416 - Advanced Writing Workshop: Fiction (4 Cr.)

4 credits of additional coursework in creative writing at the 200, 300, or 400 level are required.

The following courses may be of particular interest:

• WRT 203 - Feature Writing for Newspaper and Magazines (4 Cr.)
• WRT 208 - Journalism Workshop (4 Cr.)

4 credits of coursework in literature at the 200 or 300 level are required.

These courses may be in English, French, Spanish, or German Literature. The following courses will count toward the Minor.

• ENG Literature (4 credit courses) at the 200 or 300 level.
• FR 451 - Topics in Francophone African Literature & Cinema (4 Cr.)
• GER 240 - German Literature, Life, and Culture (4 Cr.)
• HIS 242 / ENG 242 - From Puritan Diaries to Oprah’s Book Club: Readers and Writers in American History (4 Cr.)
