Peace Studies Major

Forty-four credit hours (11 courses) are required for the major, including

• PCE 110 - Introduction to Peace Studies (4 Cr.)

•  

• PCE 124 - Being Human (4 Cr.) or
• PCE 148 - Nonviolence (4 Cr.)

•  

• PCE 205 - Maintaining the Status Quo: Power and Privilege in the United States (4 Cr.)
• PCE 210 - Research Methods for Peace and Justice (4 Cr.)
• PCE 380 - Senior Symposium (2 Cr.)
• Three 200-level courses
• Two 300-level courses
• One elective from the recommended courses to complete 44 credits
• One semester of study abroad in a Goucher College study-abroad program. Includes coursework of up to 8 credits and a community-based course, independent study or international internship of up to 4 credits.

Note:

One semester study abroad, including coursework and a community-based project or international internship Two additional semesters of language, beyond the college requirement. Requirement may be met by continuing in the language in which college proficiency was acquired, taking another language for two more semesters, or taking two languages for a semester each. Facility with languages is stressed over fluency, which students with five semesters of the same language rarely achieve.
