ART 497 - Senior Seminar I (4 Cr.)(formerly ART 387) This is the first in a two course sequence that is the culminating experience for the studio art major. Building on the readings, conversations and research conducted during the Junior Seminar, this course will emphasize process, experimentation, speculation, and productivity. Students will begin to create a body of work for their thesis exhibition in the Corrin Gallery or other venue in the greater Baltimore area or on campus. Students are responsible for initiating, developing and creating a body of studio work. Student progress is evaluated throughout the semester in class critiques and regularly scheduled discussions with their faculty. Students are expected to set ambitious and attainable goals for artwork and to be able to work independently and consistently in an area of focus. Prerequisite: ART 393 .
