BIO 291 - Directed Research in the Biological Sciences (2 Cr.) Under the direction of a program faculty member, students conduct laboratory or field research. Students initially write a brief research plan, outlining major goals of the research project. Upon completion of the research, students submit a report written in the form of a journal article to the faculty sponsor. The course may be repeated once with the same, or a different, faculty member. Only two credits of directed research may be counted toward the 38-credit total for the biology major. Prerequisites: Sophomore standing or permission of the program. Students who wish to be considered for honors within the biology major must complete an appropriate senior independent research course. Fall semester, spring semester, summer.
