PSY 219 - Cultural Psychology (4 Cr.) (AFR 219) (LER-DIV) Cultural Psychology is a subfield within the areas of Social Psychology and Cultural Anthropology. It involves the study of the interconnections between and among intergenerationally transmitted behaviors, meanings, and symbols, and psychological processes such as cognition, affect, personality structure, and behavior. This course is an introduction to the field. Topics include elements of “deep culture” and cultural relativity, approaches to scientific research within Cultural Psychology, and knowledge of self and others as cultural beings. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing. Spring semester. Grayman-Simpson.
