RLG 226 - Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy (3 Cr.)

This course covers the major Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, and Neoplatonic thinkers of the two periods. Religious thought, rational theology, the development of humanism, the development of the natural sciences. Readings from Anselm, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Peter Abelard, Maimonides, Averroes, Ficino, and Pico. Prerequisite: one 100-level course in philosophy or sophomore standing. Fall semester. Offered 2009-10 and alternate years. Rose.
