VMC 281 - Artistic Echoes: Modern/Contemporary Art (4 Cr.)

This course offers an artist-centered exploration of modern and contemporary art. Through rea ding and studying themes from the artist’s perspective, the course explores how artists dra w inspiration from societal concerns and aesthetic expressions, connecting them with artists from different areas. Through a thematic study of the cultural production of diverse artists, we will identify connections based on subject and content. Students will then apply their understanding of these artists in the creation of original and personal cultural responses, activating the ideas presented and engaging with the theoretical or historical frameworks discussed in the course.
