LIT 497 - Senior Capstone in VMC & LIT (2 Cr.)

This workshop-style course brings seniors in both VMC & LIT together to reflect on and integrate prior learning, as well to prepare for professional life beyond Goucher. (Students who would like to pursue a sustained research project should consult with their advisors about registering for an independent study or the Senior Honors Thesis.) In preparation for a reflective essay about your learning during college, we’ll read and discuss recent treatments of the state of our two academic disciplines and the humanities more generally. Next, you’ll workshop the components of first a job application, including a mock interview, and then a full application to the graduate program of your choice. Offered Pass/No-Pass only.

Prerequisite: Senior standing with Literary Studies major or Visual & Material Culture major. With permission of instructor, juniors may attend if planning to apply to graduate school during their senior year. Spring semester.
