LIT 236 - Latina Literature across Borders (2 Cr.) (cross-listed as LAM 236) (GCR RPP) This course will examine Latina literature, especially short stories and poems, written in English in the United States, Mexico, and the Carribean. We will focus on the themes of Latina identity, the interplay of Spanish and English in texts, and the function of Latinx legends and history. Some of the authors we’ll study are Pat Mora, Sandra Cisneros, and Lorna Dee Cervantes. No knowledge of Spanish is required. Prerequisite: WRT 181 or instructor’s permission. Fall semester. Murphy.
