Book Studies Minor

The following courses are required:

Book Studies minors must complete a total of 18 credit hours, including one out of the three core courses required for the minor: 

  • HIS/AMS/ENG 242 (“From Puritan Diaries to Oprah’s Book Club: Readers and Writers in American History”)
  • BKS 382 (“The Art and History of the Book”)
  • ENG 241 (“The Archaeology of the Text”).

Courses offered within the Book Studies curriculum either have no prerequisites or require the permission of the instructor.

All students are required to take:

  • BKS 290 (“Internship in Book Studies”) or BKS 299 (“Independent Study in Book Studies”).   

Up to 3 credits can be taken at other institutions with permission of the Book Studies faculty adviser.
