For complete details on the Combined Plan program with Columbia University, please see the Science and Engineering Dual Degree Program also known as 3-2 Engineering Program at Goucher .

To complete the Physics major in preparation for entry into the Combined Plan program with Columbia University, students must take:

  • PHY 125 - General Physics I (4 Cr.)
  • PHY 126 - General Physics II (4 Cr.)
  • PHY 220 - Modern Physics (4 Cr.)
  • PHY 230 - Intermediate Physics Laboratory (3 Cr.)
  • PHY 280 - Mathematical Methods in the Physical Sciences (3 Cr.)
  • PHY 310 - Electronics/Instrumentation (3 Cr.)
  • CHE 111 - Principles of Chemistry I (3 Cr.)
  • CS 224 - Principles of Programming Languages (4 Cr.)
  • EC 101 - Principles of Economics: Micro (3 Cr.)
  • EC 102 - Principles of Economics: Macro (3 Cr.)
  • MA 222 - Calculus III (4 Cr.)
  • Two additional 300-level courses within the program.

Additional courses are required for each of the engineering fields, as listed in Science and Engineering Dual Degree Program also known as 3-2 Engineering Program at Goucher .

Note: The requirements for Physics-Engineering double majors can only apply if a student intends to complete both majors. These requirements alone cannot apply to any other Physics majors with different concentrations. In the event that a student does not go through with the two majors in Physics and Engineering, and chooses to earn the Physics major only, then the student must satisfy the specific requirements for the elected concentration (above) before graduation.

Additional courses are required for each of the engineering fields.

See the following lists for the specific Physics-Engineering double majors.
