Peace Studies Minor

Students may elect a minor in peace studies in combination with any major such as education studies; history; psychology; women, gender, and sexuality studies; the sciences; communication; or sociology/anthropology. The minor is a valuable complement for any major field because the broad range of skills acquired-attentive listening, interaction with and respect for others, cooperation, responsibility, negotiation, political engagement-are essential for quality work in any major and in the professional world.

Twenty-four credit hours (seven courses) are required for the minor in peace studies, as follows:

PCE 110 - International Conflict Analysis (4 Cr.)
PCE 124 - Individuals and Collectives (4 Cr.) or
PCE 148 - Nonviolence and Liberation (4 Cr.)
One 200-level courses
One 300-level course
PCE 497 - Senior Capstone (2 Cr.)
One elective from the recommended areas below to build and expand student capacity.

Peace Studies recommends courses in Organizational Behavior, Integrative Data Analytics, History, Economics, Philosophy, and Political Science. Advisors can recommend specific courses appropriate to student interest or to build academic capacity.
