RUS 312 - Chekhov and the Short Story (3 Cr.) All work done in Russian. This intensive writing course requires students to examine Chekhov’s early satirical sketches, anecdotes, short stories, and novellas in the context of social, political, and philosophic developments of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and in contrast with other major writers of the short story. This course is suitable for students who have completed RUS 251 , as well as native speakers of Russian. (Offered at the Johns Hopkins University.) Prerequisite: permission of the instructor. Spring semester Samilenko.
