(PHL 235 ) An overview of two current philosophical practices of mindful interpretation put forth respectively by Hans Georg Gadamer and Jacques Derrida. Examination and comparison of these practices of interpretation through their interpretation of Plato’s Dialogues. Prerequisite: either sophomore standing, a 100-level philosophy course, or permission of the instructor. Spring semester. Offered 2015-16 and alternate years. Rose.
