COM 237 - Media Criticism (3 Cr.) (GEN. ED. #9 and #10) (LER – TXT)
This course examines the critical and theoretical approaches to understanding the televisual world. From formalist to feminist and postmodernist theory, students gain an in-depth understanding of the codes and conventions that govern the cultural production of television. Ideological, genre-based, auteurist, and other approaches are examined. Prerequisites: COM 105 and certified college writing proficiency, or permission of the instructor. Fall semester.
