ENG 330 - Special Topics in English Literature to 1700 (3 Cr.)
Topic: Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales: A complete reading of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, with attention to the critical controversies of the past five hundred years, and to the cultural context from which the tales emerged. Early Modern (1475-1700) commentaries on, and editions and translations of the tales will be consulted in Goucher’s Rare Book Collection and at the Garrett Library (Johns Hopkins). May be repeated for credit with different topic. Prerequisite: junior standing or permission of the instructor. Next offered 2017-2018.
