PHL 254 - Biomedical Ethics (3 Cr.) (GEN. ED. #10)
A study of life and death, euthanasia and “natural death,” abortion, organ transplants, medical experiments, women and the medical profession, medical care and the poor, health insurance schemes, mental institutions, and patients’ rights. Issues studied in relation to major ethical philosophies. Prerequisite: either sophomore standing, a 100-level philosophy course, or permission of the instructor. Fall semester. Offered 2009-10 and alternate years. Department.
