Dance Minor

All dance minors must complete 24 credits of dance coursework (including studio practice) that includes 10 core credits, 8 technique credits, 4 theoretical elective credits, and 2 technical elective credits. All students are encouraged to take technique classes each semester.

CORE THEORY REQUIREMENTS (10 Credits)

CORE TECHNIQUE REQUIREMENTS (8 credits)
All dance minors are expected to include dance technique classes for credit in all 3 genres: ballet, modern, and West African dance. Students must take at least on course in each genre for credit. All students minoring in dance must complete a minimum of 4 courses or 8 credits. Required Technical Proficiencies
All dance minors are required to complete the following technique proficiencies for credit (C- or better) for graduation: 300 level in at least one genre 200 level or higher in second genre 200 level or higher in third genre TECHNIQUE ELECTIVES (choose 2 courses)
STUDENT PRODUCTION REQUIREMENT
In addition to the above requirements, all dance minors must participate as backstage crew for 1 Goucher dance or theatre production prior to graduation. Crew sign up and assignments are made each semester by the production director. It is suggested you complete this requirement by the end of your junior year. |
