Students who have received a 4 or 5 on the Advanced Placement (AP) exams for Microeconomics and/or Macroeconomics, will receive academic credit for the following requirements in the Economics major or minor:
EC 111 with a 4 or 5 in either AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics
EC 111 and EC 211 with a 4 or 5 in both AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics
The same type of substitution will be available for students who have taken either a Principles of Microeconomics or Principles of Macroeconomics course at another institution.
EC 111 with at least a C- in either Principles of Microeconomics or Macroeconomics
EC 111 and EC 211 with at least a C- in both Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics
Students who have received a score of 5, 6, or 7 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Economics Higher Level (HL) exam will receive credit for both EC 111 and EC 211
Given that EC 206 is a prerequisite for EC 320, students should take EC 206 no later than the end of their junior year. Students may not take EC 206 if credit has already been received for another statistics course.
