HIS 235 - American Revolution (4 Cr.) This course surveys the major developments in American society from the end of the Seven Years’ War to the inauguration of American constitutional government. Topics to be discussed include: internal disputes over the meaning of liberty and equality, the nature and consequences of the military conflict, the impact of the American Revolution on slaves and Native Americans, the significance of the American rebellion within the Atlantic world, and the struggle over and ratification of the Constitution. Prerequisite: any 100-level history course, sophomore standing. Variable semesters. Hale.
