Group performance designed to provide experience in reading charts and improvising in multiple jazz styles. By audition or permission of the instructor. May be repeated for credit.

This course counts as an Africana Studies course providing students with exposure to the practice and study of jazz, a critical piece of African American culture and that of the broader African Diaspora. Can be counted for AFR credit 3 times. Students who have completed three of the following one-credit courses to have completed the GCR Area Requirement for the Arts:
