FR 272Y - Intensive Course Abroad (4 Cr.)

This course is an experiential introduction to artists’ perspectives on the natural environment in three parts of France: Avignon & rural Provence, Marseille, and Paris. Drawing on the environmental humanities, we explore innovative work in arts such as site-specific performance and other creative fields. Prior study of French not required but students having studied French will gain valuable communication skills in immersion settings such as homestays, cooking classes, and other collaborative activities. Students learn about French approaches to environmental sustainability in each part of France through people proposing new perspectives on the relations between humans and the wider natural world.
