BIO 220 - Principles of Genetics (4 Cr.)

Concepts of heredity and their application in a wide variety of organisms from bacteria to humans. Includes classical transmission genetics, chromosomal structure, DNA structure and replication, protein synthesis, gene regulation in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, extra-nuclear heredity, and introduction to molecular analysis of genes and chromosomes. Four hours lecture. Prerequisite: Prerequisites: BIO 112 (formerly BIO 101), CHE 151 (C- or better). Fall semester.
