CS 415 - Computing Systems Security (4) Study of the fundamental principles of computer and network security, including developing an understanding of security and privacy in the broader context of law, policy, and ethics. Relevant topics from computer architecture, operating systems, networking systems, and database systems will be introduced to provide a foundation for understanding how systems are vulnerable. The course emphasizes “learning by doing,” incorporating a significant lab component with which students will enhance their understanding of the foundational material, learn how to minimize system vulnerabilities, and learn how to detect and recover from system compromises. Prerequisite: CS 205 Offered spring semester of even years. Kelliher.
