CPEB 208 - The Effects of Gentrification (4)
We will examine gentrification both locally, nationally, and internationally. Through this exploration we will touch on the subjects of race, class, space and place, families, public health, politics and policy, culture, and more. Through the methodologies that we learn; students will be able to explore the topic and specific problem in a variety of ways and through a number of interdisciplinary lenses. We’ll explore who is moving in and out of certain areas, what prompts changes in areas that are gentrified, how policies, structures, organizations and institutions facilitate or resist gentrification, and other social factors related to gentrification. We will also examine how the changes to place effect families and individuals. Swann
