DMC 322 - Cryptography (4 Cr.) This course will provide an introduction to cryptography aimed at Integrative Data Analytics majors in their third year focusing on classical and applied cryptography methods such as data privacy, authenticity, and integrity. Topics include properties of integers; polynomials and finite fields; basics of algorithms; block chain technology; symmetric and public key cryptosystems; and cryptanalysis. Students enrolled in this course are not expected to have significant computer programming experience but will be expected to write simple code and do basic computations. Additionally, no previous knowledge of cryptography is necessary as the course introduces theory and applications of theory to practical problems. Prerequisites: C- or above in DMC 321 .
