VMC 312 - Public History: Theory and Practice (4 Cr.) (HIS 311/HP 311) This course examines popular history and the practice of history outside of the university. Topics include: public memory, historians and the public, the role of historians in museums and at historic sites, in documentary filmmaking, in oral history, in historic preservation and in historical archaeology. Prerequisite: Two 200-level history or historic preservation courses or permission of the instructor. Spring. Sheller.
