RUS 365 - Nineteenth Century Short Prose (4 Cr.) (cross-listed as RUS 265) (cross-listed as RUS 265) In Russian and/or English. For mid-intermediate students. Course features select short stories and novellas of Lermontov, Pushkin, Gogol, Turgenev, and Chekhov. Part of a four-year cycle of rotating pre-revolutionary topics in fiction, poetry, or drama involving close textual analysis of select works of one author, in-depth analysis of a single literary masterpiece, or examination of a particular theme or genre. Special emphasis is placed on the writing of critical essays. At the 300-level, students are expected to read and write in Russian. Prerequisite: instructor’s permission. As needed. Czeczulin.
