Creative Writing Minor

At the 200 level in creative writing, choose at least one of the following:

• WRT 202 - Short Story Writing (4 Cr.)
• WRT 205 - Introduction to Poetry Writing (4 Cr.)
• WRT 226 - Creative Nonfiction I (4 Cr.)

At the 300 level in creative writing, choose at least one of the following:

• WRT 305 - Writing Workshop: Poetry (4 Cr.)
• WRT 306 - Writing Workshop: Fiction (4 Cr.)
• WRT 307 - Creative Nonfiction II (4 Cr.)

At the 400 level in creative writing, choose at least one of the following:

• WRT 414 - Advanced Seminar: Creative Non-Fiction (4 Cr.)
• WRT 415 - Advanced Writing Workshop: Poetry (4 Cr.)
• WRT 416 - Advanced Writing Workshop: Fiction (4 Cr.)

4 credits of additional coursework in creative writing at the 200, 300, or 400 level are required.

The following courses may be of particular interest:

• WRT 208 - Journalism Workshop (4 Cr.)
• WRT 282 - Comics, Composition and Creativity (4 Cr.)
• WRT 420 - Advanced Creative Writing: Visiting Writer (4 Cr.) May be taken twice for credit.

4 credits of coursework in literature at the 200 or 300 level or 4 credits of coursework in creative writing at the 100, 200, 300, or 400 level.

Literature courses may be in English, French, Spanish, or German Literature. The following courses will count toward the Minor.

• WRT 108 - Intro to Creative Writing: Mixed Genres (4 Cr.)
• WRT 120 - Introduction to Creative Writing: Fiction (4 Cr.)
• WRT 207 - Creative Screenwriting (4 Cr.)
• LIT courses at the 200 or 300 level. (4 Cr.)
• FR 451 - Topics in Francophone African Literature & Cinema (4 Cr.)
