RUS 395 - Seminar I (4 cr. GC; 3 cr. JHU) In Russian. Intensive writing and speaking course designed for high intermediate, advanced, and native students. A four-year cycle of rotating topics in fiction, poetry, or drama prior to the Revolution of 1917 involving close textual analysis of select works of one author, in-depth analysis of a single literary masterpiece, or examination of a particular theme or genre. Special emphasis is placed on the writing of longer critical essays. May be taken more than once under a different topic for minor and major credit. Offered at the Johns Hopkins University. Prerequisite: RUS 312 or instructor’s permission. Fall semester. Samilenko.
