RUS 251 - Introduction to Russian Literature I (4 cr. GC; 3 cr. JHU) In Russian. Primarily a reading course for mid-intermediate students comprised of annotated texts supplemented by short written assignments. Native speakers read authentic texts. Major genres, and literary movements of the late 18th to mid-19th century are covered in the works of major writers: Karamzin, Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogol, Turgenev, Tolstoy, and Dostoevsky. Essential grammar review and intensive vocabulary building is integrated into the course. Prerequisite: RUS 231 or RUS 248 . Offered at the Johns Hopkins University. Fall semester. Samilenko.
